What is Texas Senate Bill 3 (SB 3), and How Does it Impact McKinney Leaf Cafe?

Texas Senate Bill 3 (SB 3) is a bill that has been passed by the Texas Legislature stating a ban on products containing any amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), including delta-8, delta-9, and THCa. Only products containing cannabidiol (CBD) or cannabigerol (CBG) will remain legal .
The bill is sitting on Governor Greg Abbott’s desk awaiting approval or veto on whether the THC products will be banned from the state of Texas. If passed, the effect will go into place on September 1, 2025.
Currently, there are groups lobbying to persuade Governor Greg Abbott to veto this bill, as many studies have shown that THC products are a much better alternative than alcohol and other hard substances. There have been significant improvements in health and wellness over the last decade due to THC use in many individuals.
